Antonio Nusa’s strong Bundesliga start has put him on Bayern’s radar, though Leipzig’s likely asking price could complicate a move.

Antonio Nusa is emerging as a possible long-term answer on Bayern Munich’s left wing, where Luis Díaz’s early absences have exposed a thin supply of cover. The 21-year-old RB Leipzig winger is drawing attention across Europe, and a report in Sport Bild says Bayern sporting director Max Eberl remains keen on him. That interest makes sense on footballing grounds: Bayern need to think about how the position works when Díaz isn’t available, as well as who might eventually succeed him. But identifying a fit and securing a transfer are different problems, especially when the player is under a long contract at a direct domestic rival.

Nusa’s production makes the case

Nusa has four goals and six assists in eight Bundesliga appearances this season. That’s a strong return across a limited run of league matches, and it suggests he’s already contributing in more than one way: finishing moves and creating chances for others. Now in his third league campaign since joining Leipzig from Club Brugge, the Norway international has had time to adapt to German football while still appearing to have room to develop. His output helps explain why interest is building, though a short stretch of strong form can’t by itself settle questions about how a player will fit into a different team.

Eberl’s interest isn’t new: Nusa’s name reportedly came up in Bayern discussions last summer, and the club executive is still convinced by the winger’s qualities. The same report, relayed by @iMiaSanMia, describes a potential transfer from Leipzig as complicated because the fee would be extremely high. That detail matters as much as the reported admiration. Leipzig have little reason to make a move easy when Nusa’s contract runs through 2029, and Bayern would need to decide whether his potential contribution justifies paying a premium.

A long contract gives Leipzig negotiating strength, while Nusa’s current production gives the club a clear reason to hold its position. Bayern’s interest could therefore remain a matter of planning rather than an imminent bid. Here’s the thing: a club can rate a player highly and still conclude that the price doesn’t match the value it expects to receive. The financial hurdle is already part of the story, not a detail to be considered only after the sporting case is made.

A fit for Bayern’s attack, at a price

Díaz helped sharpen Bayern’s attack after arriving from Liverpool last season, offering a threat from the left while Harry Kane could drop deep to create or push forward to finish. That relationship gives the winger’s role a wider importance than simply stretching the opposition or taking on a defender. Bayern benefit when the player on the left can threaten goal and help create space for Kane’s different movements. With Díaz approaching 30, his recent availability issues also make succession planning a practical question for the club.

Planning for a successor doesn’t mean Díaz’s place is already in doubt. It means Bayern have to consider how the attack holds together when he’s absent, and whether the squad has enough cover to preserve its options out wide. Nusa could offer a longer-term answer while contributing immediately, if his form and adaptation translate to a new side. That’s a meaningful combination for a recruitment target, but it’s still a projection: the numbers describe what he’s done at Leipzig, not what he’d do in Bayern’s setup.

Bayern’s 2-0 Champions League win over Atlético Madrid has renewed attention on the team’s need for pace and threat out wide. Nusa brings energy and end product, though he isn’t described as an outright speed specialist. That distinction gives a more precise picture of the appeal: Bayern may see value in his attacking output and ability to influence play, rather than treating him as a pure pace option. If you’re looking at the squad question, the issue is whether those qualities address the gaps Bayern have identified across the left side of the attack.

The numbers here are persuasive, but they don’t answer every scouting question. A winger’s fit also depends on how he combines with teammates, what the coach asks him to do, and whether he can sustain his impact when opponents adjust. The source report doesn’t offer those details, so there’s no basis to claim that Nusa would solve every problem on Bayern’s left. Still, a player producing goals and assists while attracting sustained interest is a credible candidate for closer attention. A promising profile, with a costly path to Bayern.

What the interest could mean

The footballing logic is clear; the deal is harder to judge. Leipzig’s expected price and Nusa’s long contract could make a summer move difficult, even if Bayern’s interest persists. For now, he looks like a credible name to watch as the club weighs Díaz’s role and its options on the left. The practical question is whether Bayern see enough value in acting while Nusa is still developing, or whether the likely fee makes other ways of strengthening the position more attractive.

And yet, the report points to a planning challenge that won’t disappear with one transfer rumour: Bayern need reliable options across the front line, and availability affects how much pressure falls on the starters. This is more significant than it looks. A thin supply of cover can limit tactical choices over a season, while a young player with a long contract may be difficult to acquire precisely because his current club can wait. Any decision on Nusa would have to balance what he offers now against the cost and uncertainty of bringing him in.

For Bayern, the next useful signal isn’t simply whether Eberl continues to rate him. It’s whether the club’s interest becomes concrete enough to test Leipzig’s position, and whether the expected fee fits Bayern’s plans for the wing. The available information doesn’t establish either point. Until there’s more clarity, Nusa remains an appealing target whose case is stronger on the pitch than it is on the transfer market.
