Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund left the table’s top side with a point and a growing injury list. Konrad Laimer and Dayot Upamecano put Bayern ahead twice, but Serhou Guirassy and Fábio Silva answered for Dortmund. The home side’s energy made for a difficult night, with Germany boss Jürgen Klopp watching from the stands.
Injuries disrupt Bayern’s night

Three potential setbacks cast a shadow over the result. Ismael Saibari needed help off the pitch with an ankle injury before halftime, Serge Gnabry left with a non-contact muscle problem, and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig was left with a bleeding face. Michael Olise then asked to come off late in the second half.
That list matters for a squad already without Luis Díaz, Jamal Musiala and Manuel Neuer as they recover from injuries. Bayern can ill afford further absences as the season continues.
Dortmund’s approach under Niko Kovač made clean possession hard to come by. The visitors defended with force and looked to win fouls going forward, while their limited counterattacking pace kept play compressed. Neither side found much rhythm. Gregor Kobel was called into action repeatedly, and the woodwork helped him deny efforts from Harry Kane, Olise and Lennart Karl.
Defensive errors cost Bayern
Bayern’s back line held up for long stretches, but lapses at decisive moments proved expensive. The two goals conceded kept the visitors from taking all three points and moving clear at the top of the table.
Laimer and Upamecano stood out, with their goals adding weight to their performances. Kim Min-jae was uneven, Alphonso Davies began brightly but faded, and Josip Stanišić produced another middling outing.
Joshua Kimmich steadies the response

Captain Joshua Kimmich played his first match since the unexpected death of his father, and gave Bayern a composed response after Dortmund drew level. He helped refocus the side, then played the pass that found Kane unmarked. Kane headed the ball across goal for Upamecano to score.
Laimer finds the opening

Laimer was Bayern’s most consistent threat in advanced positions. His 38th-minute run behind Dortmund’s defense gave him a clear path to goal. Kobel stopped the first shot, but Laimer collected the rebound and finished to put Bayern in front.
He kept finding space between Daniel Svensson and Nico Schlotterbeck. Olise’s passing helped draw Dortmund’s midfield out of shape and release Laimer, though he couldn’t convert the other chances that followed.
Upamecano delivers at both ends

Upamecano’s goal was his 10th for Bayern in six seasons, and his second go-ahead strike at Signal Iduna Park. He also recorded four clearances, three interceptions and two recoveries, completing 91% of his passes. With Jonathan Tah unavailable to anchor the defense, Upamecano’s intensity was a defining part of his 90 minutes.
He was pulled wide in the buildup to Guirassy’s goal and nearly recovered in time to block the near-post attempt. On Dortmund’s second, he was positioned on the far side of the move. Kim recorded 13 defensive contributions, but was caught out of position and a step behind on both goals. Bayern’s attacking defenders delivered; their late concentration still needs work.
